Reed N. Fountain

Reed N. Fountain has represented clients throughout North Carolina, in various proceedings including jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, voluntary mediations, and administrative hearings. He has written briefs and appeared at both the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. His practice is focused on representing both individuals and occupational licensing boards in administrative law settings. He has obtained favorable results through both hearings and negotiations. He has represented individuals facing inquiries from the N.C. Board of Dental Examiners, N.C. Medical Board, N.C. Board of Pharmacy, N.C. Board of Nursing, N.C. Psychology Board, N.C. Board of Education, N.C. Auctioneer Licensing Board, N.C. Commissioner of Banks, N.C. Real Estate Commission, N.C. Private Protective Services Board, N.C. Board of Funeral Services, N.C. Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, N.C. Alarm Systems Licensing Board, and N.C. Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters.

He has also engaged in litigation and negotiations regarding CAMA regulations, sedimentation control regulations and water quality regulations. He has resolved business disputes surrounding business valuation and asset purchase agreements. He has handled cases involving land condemnation by both N.C. Department of Transportation and municipalities, will caveats, medical negligence or malpractice claims, products liability, premises security, breach of contract, automobile negligence and premises liability.

Reed is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct mediated settlement conferences in Superior Court cases and is available to mediate cases locally.

Reed obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Holderness Moot Court Negotiation Team. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. He is a shareholder and serves on the firm's recruiting committee. He has been active with both state and local bar organizations and has made CLE presentations and published an article regarding administrative law.
