Patrick T. VanderJeugdt

Shareholder

As a member of Young Moore’s civil litigation team, Patrick focuses his practice on matters involving first- and third-party insurance coverage in residential and commercial property, condominium property and liability, homeowner’s liability, and commercial general liability insurance lines. Patrick’s experience with condominium property policies includes single peril and multi-peril policies for unit-owners as well as owners associations for developments subject to the North Carolina Unit Ownership Act, the North Carolina Condominium Act, and the North Carolina Planned Community Act.

Patrick regularly advises clients through all stages of insurance underwriting and claims from policy application, through early investigative efforts and coverage analyses, all the way to state and federal litigation. Beyond litigation Patrick regularly guides insurers through alternative dispute resolution processes such as appraisal and administrative hearings, including proceedings before the North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance.

In addition to his work in the insurance industry, Patrick has experience representing architects, contractors, engineers, and property owners in construction industry disputes primarily involving professional liability, tort and contract liability, and product defect litigation. Common matters range from two-party disputes over residential projects all the way to complex, multi-party litigation arising from large commercial, multi-family, and government construction projects.

He is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America in the areas of Insurance Law (2023-2025) and Commercial Litigation (2024, 2025). He is also named in the North Carolina Rising Stars list (2025, 2026) published by Super Lawyers®
