Fountain Presents on Regulatory Reform in North Carolina
John N. (Nick) Fountain recently presented a lecture and panel discussion on Regulatory Reform in North Carolina at the North Carolina Bar Association. The lecture focused on the current status of reform efforts at the General Assembly, some of the philosophical roots of the effort, evaluation of the efficiency and propriety of self-regulation by occupations and professions as well as efforts to assure procedural fairness and subject matter expertise in those processes.
A partner at Young Moore, Nick has a long history of representation of persons and firms before multiple professional and occupational licensing entities, as well as serving as Board counsel. He has assisted clients in more than 80 of the 100 courthouses in North Carolina and has been involved in more than 40 reported decisions in the North Carolina Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, the Business Court, U.S. District Court and the Fourth Circuit. In addition to having served on the Grievance, Authorized Practice, and Legislative Committees of the North Carolina State Bar, Nick has served as President of the Wake County and 10th district Bar, on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association, and as president of the Raleigh Kiwanis Club.
