Hollander to Present at NC Heirs’ Property Symposium

Young Moore attorney, Reed J. Hollander, will present a session titled “Overview of Property Tax Relief Options in North Carolina” at the upcoming North Carolina Heirs’ Property Symposium on April 10th at the Durham Armory. The program is provided by the NC Department of Justice and the NC NAACP, with support from the NC Bar Foundation.

Prevalent in North Carolina, heirs’ property is created when land is passed down through generations and owned by many descendants with an undivided interest. These owners face an elevated risk of losing properties via scams, investor buyers, and/or property tax foreclosure. This program, created for lawyers and community leaders, is designed to build the pipeline of those who can advocate for and assist clients in the area of loss prevention.

Reed focuses his practice primarily on state and local tax (SALT) controversies, including property tax, sales and use tax and other excise taxes, corporate and individual income tax. He also represents clients in matters involving eminent domain and condemnation law, economic development, and administrative and business litigation. Reed is a graduate of Duke University School of Law and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America© and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and has served in various leadership positions within the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Durham, Raleigh, and North Carolina Jaycees. Reed is also a former adjunct tax faculty member of the University of Miami School of Law, having co-taught the State and Local Tax intersession course for eight years. Learn more about Reed
