Mercer Speaks at 2023 Property Tax Symposium in Tampa, Florida

Young Moore attorney, Charles H. Mercer, Jr., spoke at the 2023 Property Tax Symposium held November 5th-8th in Tampa, Florida. The event, offered by the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), provided a deep dive analysis of the pressing issues facing property tax professionals. Charlie served as a panelist in a session titled True Stories: Tales of Creative Strategies for Property Tax Cases where he shared his insights on the effective use of strategies and techniques in property tax controversies. Subjects addressed included the importance of pre-hearing motions, effective negotiation techniques, and the examination and cross examination of witnesses.

Charlie represents taxpayers on property tax appeals throughout North Carolina before county boards, the North Carolina Property Tax Commission, and the appellate courts. A former chairman of the North Carolina Property Tax Commission, Charlie has taught state and local tax law at Duke University School of Law, Campbell University School of Law, and University of Miami School of Law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and is recognized for his work in the area of Tax Law in Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA.

Charlie also advises and represents corporations, partnerships, and individuals on a variety of issues, including state and local tax and economic development matters. Read more
