John N. Hutson, III is an associate at Young Moore and focuses his practice on estate and fiduciary litigation as well as occupational licensing boards and administrative law. Prior to joining the firm, he honed his legal skills at a local firm representing parties in a variety of cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, and business litigation. His legal experience also includes serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard Dietz on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. John is named in the 2025 North Carolina Rising Stars list published by Super Lawyers®. and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in the area of Litigation – Trusts and Estates (2026).
John is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and Clemson University. While earning his law degree, he contributed as a staff member to the Wake Forest Journal of Law & Policy and served as a research assistant in the area of environmental law. He also participated in the university’s Pro Bono Expungement Clinic, offering one-on-one counseling to individuals seeking guidance on the eligibility of having incidents removed from their criminal record.
Outside of Young Moore, John enjoys golf, tennis, reading, and watching ACC sports.
