Brock Elected as a State Bar Councilor for the Tenth Judicial District
Walter E. Brock Jr., was elected to a three year term as a State Bar councilor for the Tenth Judicial District on December 1st by fellow Bar members.
Walter has served on the Disciplinary Hearing Commission of the State Bar (as a State Bar appointee) since 2011, and will resign that appointment before beginning his service on the State Bar Council. On the DHC, he chaired or served as a hearing panel member on numerous hearings on the most serious disciplinary matters, involving potential suspension or disbarment, as well as reinstatement. Before the DHC, Walter served as President of the WCBA/Tenth Judicial District Bar, Chair of the Public Service Committee, as well as in other roles in the local Bar, the NCBA, and other professional associations.
State Bar Councilors meet quarterly. They are also requested to serve on either the Ethics or Grievance Committees of the State Bar. The meetings are either three or four days in length.
About Walter:
Walter’s entire career in private practice has been with Young Moore and Henderson, having joined the firm in 1979 after one year as a law clerk to Chief Judge Naomi Morris of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. His practice is focused on civil litigation, with special experience and interest in the following areas: professional liability, professional liability insurance, first party and third party insurance bad faith litigation, property and casualty insurance coverage, product liability, construction defect, environmental litigation, trade secret, non-compete, and non-solicitation law and litigation, business and commercial litigation, breach of contract and unfair trade practice disputes, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death.
About the Tenth Judicial District Bar:
Membership in the Tenth Judicial District Bar is mandatory for attorneys who are active and live or practice in Wake County, North Carolina. The Tenth Judicial District Bar investigates grievances of the public toward attorneys, handles fee disputes with attorneys and conducts judicial elections.
