Lainie Moyer to Present NCHCFA Webinar on Legal and Nursing Standards of Care

Young Moore attorney Elaine (Lainie) M. Moyer will present a webinar on The Legal Standard of Care Versus Nursing Standard of Care hosted by the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association (NCHCFA) on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
The webinar will explore the relationship between nursing standards of care as taught in nursing school versus the legal standard of care that is applied to nursing care during a lawsuit. The presentation will provide practical guidance for long-term care professionals seeking to build systems that support safe practices and reduce potential liability.
During the program, Lainie will examine how legal standards of care are established and how they may vary depending on jurisdiction, area of practice, and geographic location. Participants will gain insight into where legal and nursing standards align, where they may differ, and how facility leadership can anticipate legal expectations when developing policies and practices.
