Young Moore’s Walter Brock Receives The Advocate’s Award Presented By NCBA

The North Carolina Bar Association Litigation Section recently honored Young Moore’s Walter E. Brock, Jr. as the 14th recipient of The Advocate’s Award. Presented as merited, and not annually, the award recognizes a life and career exemplifying the art and skill of advocacy, client and community service, the highest degree of professionalism, and dedication to the pursuit of justice. Walter is pictured here with the current Chair of the NCBA Litigation Section Matt Van Sickle and nominators former Chief Justice Mark Martin and Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway.

Walter joined Young Moore in 1979 and focuses his practice on civil litigation and insurance law. He litigates cases in the Superior Courts throughout North Carolina, including the North Carolina Business Court, and in each of the three Federal District Courts in North Carolina. He frequently represents parties in appeals before the Court of Appeals of North Carolina, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.  He also appears before administrative agencies, including the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Walter authored the book chapter on professional liability insurance in the LexisNexis Practice Guide: North Carolina Insurance Litigation. He has served the Bar as President of the Wake County and Tenth Judicial District Bars, as a hearing officer on the North Carolina State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Commission, and is in his third term as a State Bar Councilor representing the Tenth Judicial District on the Grievance Committee and the Authorized Practice of Law Committee among others. He is an elected member of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel (ACCC). He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America©, North Carolina Super Lawyers®, and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite.
