Senter Presents on OCR Enforcement Actions During COVID-19

Young Moore attorney, David A. Senter, Jr., recently presented Lessons Learned from OCR Enforcement Actions During COVID-19 to the Southeastern Michigan Health Information Association (SEMHIMA).

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 challenges, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) continues its oversight of health care providers through enforcement of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules. Particular emphasis has been placed on providing patients with access to their medical record, conducting thorough risk assessments, and implementing appropriate policies and training. Health Care attorney, David Senter, will discuss recent OCR settlements and identify practical steps that providers, large and small, can take to identify and mitigate potential data privacy and security risks.

David is a shareholder at Young Moore and advises clients in matters related to healthcare privacy and data security, breach notification and reporting requirements, and HIPAA compliance. He assists covered entities and business associates with HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures, incident response and investigation, and workforce and management training. David currently serves as the Interim Associate Compliance Officer and Director of Privacy of an Academic Medical Center in North Carolina.
