Young Moore Attorneys Present on QAPI Protections at NCHCFA Webinar

Young Moore attorneys Dana Hoffman and Marlo Donato Kalb presented at a webinar hosted by the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association (NCHCFA) addressing the application of quality assurance privilege during litigation in long-term care settings.
Their presentation, When QAPI Meets Litigation: Steps to Ensure Protection of Your Records, offered practical guidance to long-term care providers on safeguarding QAPI records from discovery in the event of litigation.
Dana Hoffman is a Shareholder at Young Moore, where she has focused her practice on complex defense litigation for nursing homes, motor carriers, and rural electric cooperatives since joining the firm in 1990. She has completed more than 50 trials as defense counsel and regularly represents clients at the trial and appellate levels, including before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Dana is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the International Society of Barristers. She has been named to the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Power List for Personal Injury (2023–2025) and was recognized as the 2026 Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” in Raleigh for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants. Dana is also listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™.
Marlo Donato Kalb is an associate at Young Moore whose practice focuses on long-term care litigation and state and local tax controversy. She brings a distinctive background in public health, qualitative research, and policy analysis to her representation of healthcare providers in complex regulatory and litigation matters. Marlo earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and also holds a Master of Public Health in Health Behavior from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
