Expanding Excellence: Four Attorneys Promoted to Shareholders at Young Moore

Young Moore is excited to announce the promotion of four litigation attorneys to shareholders, a move that reflects the firm’s continued growth and dedication to serving clients. The newly elected shareholders, Reed J. Hollander, Matthew C. Burke, Anderson H. Phillips, and Patrick T. VanderJeugdt, bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will continue to strengthen the firm’s ability to deliver exceptional legal services.

Reed J. Hollander joined the firm in 2023 bringing over 25 years of experience in state and local tax (SALT) controversies, including property tax, sales and use tax, excise taxes, and corporate and individual income tax. He also represents clients in eminent domain and condemnation law, economic development, and administrative and business litigation. A Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and current Chair of the Tax Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, Reed is a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Miami School of Law, where he co-taught a State and Local Tax course for eight years. He is a frequent speaker on SALT controversy issues and has been recognized in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America©, and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™.

Matthew C. Burke, Anderson H. Phillips, and Patrick T. VanderJeugdt joined the firm as associates in 2019 and have since demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill in their respective practices.

  • Matt Burke focuses on insurance coverage and commercial litigation, including complex business disputes, employment matters, construction issues, products liability, and premises liability. After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of Law, he clerked for the Honorable Cheri Beasley at the Supreme Court of North Carolina and served as a fellow in the North Carolina Solicitor General’s Office. Matt is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™ Young Guns category.
  • Anderson Phillips, a graduate of Duke University School of Law, represents clients in trucking litigation, products liability, premises liability, and insurance defense cases. Before joining Young Moore, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark A. Davis at both the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
  • Patrick VanderJeugdt practices on the firm’s general litigation team, primarily on construction and insurance matters with a focus on first- and third-party insurance coverage disputes in the underwriting and claims contexts. After earning his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law he practiced at a boutique construction litigation firm until joining Young Moore in 2019. Patrick is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™ Young Guns category.
